In the past the planet Earths life forms have suffered under five main extinctions.
Ordovician - Silurian 443 million years ago

Late Devonian 359 million years ago

Permian (The Great Dying) 284 million years ago

Triassic- Jurassic 200 million years ago

Cretaceous - Tertiary 65 million years ago

There are various possible reasons for these extinctions,
but whatever the reason they happened.
